Hougang Secondary School Hey! I am Jia en from B40. One Saturday in October 2007, my senior Naomi invited me to church. I wasn’t very interested and was kind of apprehensive, but I agreed to come as I did not want to disappoint her. I was amazed to see such an extraordinary church. I had always had an impression that churches were old-fashioned and boring, but I was awed when I saw heart of God church for the first time. It was a modern, fun and exciting place. I was so impacted by the atmosphere and the people I met that I accepted Christ in my life that day! I found many great friends in church as they were all very friendly and went out of their way to talk to me and get to know me. Though I loved church, I was struggling to come to church every week. How many of you know that even though you become a Christian, it doesn’t mean life has no problems! My parents were very against Christianity, and they objected once they found out I was going to church. However, I wanted to come to church so badly that I would buy concert tickets and tell my mother I was going for the concert, and then sell the tickets on service day to come to church. Even then, I could only manage to come once every few weeks. It might have seemed like a crazy thing to do, but I wanted to be in the presence of God so much I was willing to do what it takes! So when my mother warned me that I was not to go to any more concerts, my heart fell. I was afraid my only opportunity to come to church would be taken away. Just at that time, we were having Academic Excellence weekend in church. I took a step of faith and decided to invite my mother for AE weekend. I was surprised when she agreed to come! It seemed my dreams of coming to church freely were coming to pass! However, things did not work out the way I thought they would. My mother came for service, but she did not agree with what Pastor said. Instead, she was even more skeptical and all the more, she did not support me going to church. During that time I was very sad as my dream seemed to die. But something inside of me refused to give up, and I decided to continue trusting God and invite my parents to church again and find a way to come for services even though my PO was getting worse. I believe throughout this whole time, my CG and my leaders were really praying for me and encouraging me even though things were not good. A few days after the service, my mother suddenly brought up the subject of church over dinner. For no reason, she just told me, You can go to church if you want to. I was overjoyed and I knew it had to be the power of God and the power of prayer in my life! The opportunity to invite my parents again came when Her Excellency Zanele Makina came to our church to speak. This time, both my parents came and they even brought my younger brothers. My younger brothers enjoyed children’s church very much and my mother came back to church the next day for Pastor’s Glory of Virginity Sermon! My mother agreed with what Pastor said and I am happy that she has a much more positive image of heart of God church now. I spiritually adopted my family, and have been praying for them to get saved one day. I believe that God is working to soften my parents’ hearts. Guys, I just want to encourage you today. All of us have PO, all of us have problems in life. But when you do crazy things, when you are radical enough to trust God, He will work miracles in your life! Let’s be radical Christians! edited by FEDORA!! :D:D lalalas. hahas. this is my testimony in Heart of God church. with loves, gengen |
